Meet Guide Cody Willis

Your guide, Cody Willis was born and raised in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He had a great childhood spent fishing both the local rivers and lakes with his family. From this, he grew to appreciate the beauty of these waters and all that they had to offer. When he was a kid, we spent almost every summer weekend out on the boat. He gets excited with just the thought of casting out lines and watching the sun sink beneath the horizon while fishing until dark. Indeed, fishing was his favorite activity. He absolutely loved it—there were no distractions, just the sound of the water and nature surrounding it. There was a contentment in knowing that at any given moment, he could go out on the lake or river and find solace while also having an opportunity to catch some fish. He learned at an early age that fishing could be more than just a way to catch dinner; it became his passion. It exposed him to new people, places, and ideas—all while spending time in nature and out in the waters.

Growing up, he was always fascinated by the natural beauty the area had to offer. From huge rivers lined with towering trees, to miles of untouched wilderness stretching as far as the eye can see - he realized that nature was indeed a part of his life from a young age. Through fishing, he learned to be independent and persistent when looking for success. He had always known and felt that his future path would lead to working with those who shared that same love for fishing and the outdoors. 

However, one thing missing from his childhood experience was a way for people in the community to explore and adventure safely; something that could give access to all these amazing places but also ensure that everyone remained safe while doing so. This is when he started to dream of owning his own fishing guide service company someday. This idea stayed with him over time and eventually grew into what is now Southern Adventures Guide Service- a top-notch guided fishing charter service business that helps everyone to experience first-hand catching fish with a quality rod and reel at a fair price.  He says he is always excited to provide such an essential service to the community. Every time he sets out on a charter, he looks forward to giving guests something better; something to increase the interest and catch rate when enjoying their favorite pastime.

Cody brings guests onboard a 2015 topwater boat. With a 40hp Yamaha engine, this boat can cruise up to 31 knots and can accommodate up to 3 anglers. Recently restored in 2022, it's sure to provide an enjoyable and stress-free experience from start to finish.
